A Prunus Serrulata, or Mt. Fuji flowering cherry tree, blooms in Hume Springs Park, Alexandria, VA, April 11, 2013. The tree was planted for earth day by the Hume Springs Citizens Association in 2012.
The original tree was vandalized shortly after planting, however the citizens association remained undaunted and planted the replacement seen here. This is the first year the tree has flowered.
